The shot before the storm... Emerald Bay at Lake Tahoe, CA

For Memorial weekend, I traveled from Lake Tahoe to Mono Lake and everywhere in between in search of good light and photographic opportunities. To say I spent my Memorial Day weekend chasing the light is an understatement! Unfortunately, the weather was unbelievably miserable all weekend, running the gamut between rain, snow, high winds, nearly record cold and just plain lousy conditions, and I was forced to end the trip earlier than I had planned.

However, I was able to get one shot. Actually, the only shot of the entire weekend.

The ironic thing about this Lake Tahoe Sunset, over Emerald Bay, is that I took it on my very first stop, just after arriving in Lake Tahoe. And a few minutes later the weather deteriorated and that was it. This was my first and last shot of the entire trip. The rest of the weekend was spent traveling between rain and snow storms. BIG STORMS! 32 degrees at Mono Lake in May?! Global warming?!

I just listed a piece of jewelry in honor of Emerald bay and linked your photo.
